Golf: The Open, 9pm, BBC Two

Eilidh Barbour presents action from the first day of the Major, which takes place in St Andrews, Scotland and saw Collin Morikawa as the defending champion.

South Africa’s 2010 title winner Louis Oosthuizen set the pace in round one at Royal St George’s Golf Club last year by scoring a six-under-par 64 lead over Americans Brian Harman and Jordan Spieth.

The Midwich Cuckoos, 10pm, Sky Max

It’s the final installment in the mediocre adaptation of John Wyndham’s science fiction novel of the same name.

Emboldened by their late night encounter, Susannah (Keeley Hawes, below) rushes home to break the news – unaware that tragedy is unfolding at their family home.

Paul and Bryony are made aware of Susannah’s discovery and attempt to find a diplomatic solution.

But it’s not long before another resident, driven to desperation, takes matters into his own hands and tensions escalate even further.

Midwich is now a war zone and all negotiations have ended.

Sarah Beeny’s Little House, Big Plans, 8 p.m. Channel 4

Property expert Sarah Beeny (below) meets psychotherapist Tim, fashion designer Tiff and their daughter Tia who are looking to convert a garage into a two bedroom flat to rent out in Bosbury, Herefordshire.

Covid is having a huge impact on family income and their ambitions, so Sarah proposes a pretty radical change in plans.

In Wales, Damion Burrows meets Rhys and Shannon, who have been unconventional, giving up space in their ultra-modern home to make room.

He also meets Emma and Mike, who have fallen in love with a view so much that they flipped their entire house to make the most of it.
