The most heartwarming Christmas ads of 2022

This year’s most popular Christmas ads have chosen a simpler theme. Suzy Griffin writes.

Let’s all look at it together

“My grandfather, because he just got out of the hospital” – that’s just one of the healthy lines of this year’s children The Late Late Toy Show Financial support.

This year’s theme, entitled Let’s All Watch Together, is a little lighter than previous years and focuses on a simple and beautiful message. Featuring a mix of equally adorable children listing loved ones they want to sit down and watch Late Late Toy Show With that, the ad moves away from talking about toys, TV, or the like, and focuses on the simple act of being together.

The list

Michelle Graham-Clare, McDonald’s senior vice president, chief marketing officer, was quoted over the weekend as saying: “We know this Christmas will not be a normal one for many families in the UK and Ireland,” which explains why their Christmas offer The list “It’s about celebrating the little things after a year that has taken a huge toll on household finances.”

The ad features a boy named Alfie getting carried away with writing his Christmas list. As his list grows, his mother panics and mentally checks off his own to-do list before the big day. As mother and son continue to be swept up in anticipation, Alfie is devastated when his list – now very long and full of gifts – is blown away by the wind.

It ends with Alfie clutching the only piece of paper in his hand, a drawing of him surrounded by his mother and father, reminding them what really matters.

Send from the heart. send love

This year’s An Post holiday ad, featuring Lyra’s hauntingly beautiful singing, is already gaining traction online.

Inspired by the popular novel the wonderful wizard of oz, the ad features the iconic Tin Man character going in search of a heart. Beautifully shot, the video adds another dimension to a simple Christmas message.

Send from the heart. send love sees that Tin Man can’t get into the Christmas spirit until he gets a plain “heart” card to lock away in place of a real heart. The campaign highlights the joy and connection that can be conveyed by sending a simple “heartfelt” card.

joy for everyone

While much more glamorous than the above offerings, the Boats Christmas Promotion still focuses on the simple theme: joy for everyone.

The campaign does a great job of making fun of the different gifts – big and actually very small – that can bring joy to different characters. From a bottle of bubble bath to a picture of a beloved dog, joy can come from the simple things and doesn’t always have to cost the earth at Christmas.

Starring and on the track is BAFTA-nominated actress Lydia West you make my dreams come true) The Hall & Oates film tells the story of Holly, who finds magical glasses on the bus that allow her to see what brings joy to people whenever she wears them.

The beginner

Perhaps the most anticipated video of the season, the John Lewis Christmas spot is a firm favorite among viewers. For 2022, the brand has gone back to basics with something completely different from last year’s big-budget production, which told the story of an alien crash-landing on Earth.

This year’s theme focuses on foster children and tells the story of a middle-aged man’s struggles to bond with his new foster daughter, Ellie. Before arriving, the man is determined to find his way around on a skateboard so the two have a common interest.

The heartwarming ad shows his determination to find common ground despite many bumps along the way. The story unfolds beautifully with the surprise arrival of a nervous teenager at the end who once again reminds us of the importance of being happy together during a beautiful but difficult time.
