Emmerdale aired Vanessa Woodfield’s exit scenes.

In Wednesday’s (November 30) episode, there was a temporary farewell to Vanessa as actress Michelle Hardwick went on maternity leave after taking in daughter Betty Brooks Emmerdale producer Kate Brooks earlier this month.

On this swan song, Vanessa and girlfriend Suzy Merton have split for the time being, while leaving the door open to revisit their romance once Ness returns from her job in Canada.

Leyla had tried to convince Suzy to make amends with Vanessa, but Suzy insisted that ending the relationship was “the right decision”.

Mary was the one who encouraged Suzy to talk to Vanessa by ordering her to “get off [her] Back” and talk to her former partner one on one before Vanessa leaves the village.

Over at the pub, Vanessa had a heart-to-heart with her former partner Charity, during which she expressed how happy she was that Charity had found Mack.

When it came time for Vanessa to leave, Suzy nearly caused a traffic disaster by stepping in front of her cab to say goodbye.

After Suzy assured Vanessa that she would “let it rip” with the new job, they both realized that some time apart would probably be for the best.

“Who knows where we’ll be in a year, eh?” stressed Suzy.

Vanessa added, “Never say never, right?”

The couple shared a kiss and told each other they loved each other while some of their friends cheered them on from down the street. Vanessa then got back in the cab and left for now.

Maybe a Christmas reunion for Vanessa and Suzy…in 2023?
