I’m A Celebrity’s roommates reveal their biggest fear before the first eviction

THEY’VE defied spiders, rats and snakes, but losing to the disgraced Matt Hancock in tonight’s first eviction is the biggest fear of the I’m A Celebrity housemates.

The celebrities are said to have “damned themselves” over the possible humiliation of being less popular than the former health secretary, who broke his own Covid rules through an office affair.

A source told The Sun: “Conversations have turned to the evictions knowing it’s happening every day now and some of the big figures have started to get the jitters.

“Basically, they are ashamed because they were beaten by Matt.

“It would be a real tooth for the ego if he turned out to be more popular than her given what he’s been doing during the pandemic.

“They think it would be humiliating to go out first and leave him sitting pretty in camp.”

News anchor Charlene White, 42, is the favorite to leave after fans were invited to vote on who they wanted to stay. The result will be revealed tonight in a 90-minute show.

Viewers seem to be breaking away from Matt after forcing him through a series of six grueling trials.

Many even support him to win, although he was forced to resign after The Sun published snaps of him in a clinch with aide Gina Coladangelo.

Instead, DJ Chris Moyles, 48, was in the line of fire.

Alex Apati of bookmaker Ladbrokes said: “As far as players are concerned, Matt Hancock has every chance of being crowned king of the jungle.

“In fact, only Jill Scott was more popular in betting.”

Matt, 44, has donned just 7.3 percent less Dosh than Jill, 35, and is five times more popular with gamers than comedian Seann Walsh, 36.

As Jill’s fiancé Shelly Unitt landed at Brisbane Airport yesterday, she insisted the only thing that mattered to the lioness was participation.

Shelly said: “I think Jill gets a good kick out of this, although I hear she’s the top favorite to win.

“I’m just proud of her for being where she is now. She would be grateful and humbled and excited, but she doesn’t want to win. It’s about the experience.”

Before the eviction, Matt, the MP for West Suffolk, is voted out as camp leader and has to give up his red chair.

‘Matt is going on an absolute vacation here’

He has to wash the dishes and clean out the dunny after losing the top job. But the demotion comes after he enjoyed a day at the beach with Unfair Funfair trial winners Jill and Sue Cleaver, 59.

After a series of gruesome challenges, their names were drawn into a raffle by hosts Ant McPartlin – who is celebrating his birthday today – and Declan Donnelly, both now 47.

The trio won a luxurious BBQ on the white sands of the Gold Coast.

Seann quipped, “Matt is having an absolute vacation here. Sat in this chair, sleeps in this bed and then goes to the beach for the day.”

Boy George, 61, laughed: “Can I just interrupt you there – he must still be Matt Hancock.”

Matt told Jill, “You really, really deserve this after what you’ve been through. And the fact that you’re so hungry.”

When he got to the beach and saw the grill, Matt exclaimed, “Have you seen the size of those shrimp? Delicious!”

Jill said, “Even just to see butter! Oh my god, real food! Every bite makes you feel kind of guilty.”

When they returned to camp, their colleagues were eager to find out how the beach trip had been.

Matt said: “They flew us close to the coast. We went to the beach and everything was beautiful.

“Then they grilled there — a big pile of sausages and steaks.”

Jill confessed, “I had two sausage sandwiches. I feel bad saying it.” The rest of the camp, after succeeding in their own trial, managed to grill eel for dinner.
