Fraser Star Kelsey Grammer has said the upcoming reboot of the hit ’90s sitcom will honor the late John Mahoney.
The classic show revolved around Dr. Frasier Crane, a psychiatrist-turned-radio host (played by Grammer), and Mahoney became a valued cast member as Martin, Frasier’s smart-hearted father.
The actor sadly passed away in 2018 at the age of 77, but Grammer has assured fans that the Paramount+ revival will pay tribute to him.

“His loss is and has been devastating and must be given due attention in honor of the extraordinary man he was and the contribution he made to the show and the acting profession,” he said Fox News Digital.
“We will certainly honor him according to his merits. To this day he is a deserving man.
“John was a kind man and the world cannot afford to lose a kind man at any time.”

It’s still unclear how the show will handle Mahoney’s death specifically, but back in 2019, Grammer suggested his onscreen son, Freddie, might take on some similar personality traits to his grandfather.
“My son Freddie would be 30 years old, people have posited many ideas of what he could be – everything from a comedian to a cop,” he said.
“I tend to leave with a reincarnation of Martin’s character, so he picked up more from his grandfather than his father. That’s what I like.”

Speaking previously about his own character’s return, Grammer teased, “Frasier will be changing towns again.
“He thinks he’s going to go out and do one thing, and in fact his life takes him in a different direction and he ends up rich, way beyond his dreams.”
Fraser will be streamed on Paramount+ in the US.
