Priced under $200, the Nokia T10 Tablet is HMD Global’s cheapest Android tablet. Is it worth buying compared to Amazon’s Fire 7 tablet?

HMD Globals Nokia T10 Tablet is the smallest and cheapest yet, but it’s not without competition in the budget Android tablet space, with one of its main competitors being the Amazon Fire 7 Tablet (2022). Amazon has more experience making tablets, unlike HMD Global, which released its first, the Nokia T20, less than a year ago. Additionally, Amazon’s Fire tablet lineup are mostly budget devices designed to give buyers access to its services like Prime Video and Kindle.

In addition to tablets, Amazon also makes e-readers under the Kindle brand. The Kindle readers are primarily designed for reading, in contrast to the Fire tablets, which can do significantly more. They pack low-power E Ink displays and can last for weeks before needing a recharge.

It’s an octa-core chip with two Cortex-A75 cores clocked at 1.6GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.6GHz, and it’s 3GB/4 GB RAM and 32 GB/64 GB storage coupled. On the other hand, Amazon’s tablet features an unnamed quad-core MediaTek chipset clocked at 2.0 GHz. Additionally, it is paired with 2GB of RAM and buyers can choose between 16GB or 32GB of storage. As with the Nokia T10, there is an option to add more storage via a MicroSD card slot. However, while the Fire 7 supports cards with a maximum capacity of 1TB, the Nokia T10 caps it at 512GB. For video calling, there’s a 2MP camera on both tablets, but the Nokia T10 should be able to capture better footage with its 8MP rear camera (and LED flash) than the single 2MP sensor on the back of the Amazon tablets Software is a key differentiator between the two tablets, although both run Android. Amazon’s Fire tablets run a fork of Android called Fire OS. Both phones have Bluetooth, dual-band Wi-Fi and an audio jack, but only the Nokia T10 has stereo speakers and LTE (optional), allowing users connect to cellular networks when WiFi is not available.

The Nokia T10 costs $169 in the US, and for that price users will get the variant with 4GB RAM, 64GB storage and LTE support. That’s nearly triple the price of the Fire 7 (2022), which retails for $59.99 for the base 16GB model and $79.99 for the 32GB version. Amazon sells its devices with ads on the lock screen, but charges an additional $20 if users don’t want ads.
