Netflix starts December with many new additions.

If you plan it carefully, Netflix has added a movie you can enjoy every night in December except on New Year’s Eve, but you probably have other plans for that night.

THE AMERICAN

George Clooney directs this slick yet dark assassin thriller.

ANOTHER ROUND

One of the best films of the decade.

IT CANNOT BE BETTER

Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt have both won Oscars for their performances in this offbeat romantic comedy.

RETREAT

A classic 90’s action film about a group of firefighters (including Kurt Russell, Robert De Niro and one of the Baldwins) trying to track down a serial arsonist.

THE BREAKFAST CLUB

“You see us as you want to see us – in the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions.

D-TOX

Sylvester Stallone directs this serial killer thriller set in a remote rehab clinic. 18% on rotten tomatoes.

ANGER

Brad Pitt is the leader of a group of tankers in the depths of World War II. A very good war action drama.

GHOST TOWN

A man (Ricky Gervais) is brought back to life, but he can now communicate with the dead. A very cute rom-com.

GONE BABY GONE

This very dark kidnapping drama was Ben Affleck’s directorial debut and stars his brother Casey as well as Morgan Freeman, Ed Harris and Michelle Monaghan.

GOOD WILL HUNTING

This Matt Damon/Ben Affleck/Robin Williams classic turns 25 this week.

HANCOCK

Will Smith is a drunken superhero trying to get his life back on track. Co-stars Jason Bateman and Charlize Theron. The first two thirds are pretty funny.

LAST NIGHT

A decent romantic drama that revolves around four people (Keira Knightley, Eva Mendes, Sam Worthington, Guillaume Canet) and like a night that separates their partners, sends them down complicated paths.

THE LAZARUS PROJECT

We’ve never heard of that. Paul Walker, Piper Perabo and Linda Cardellini star in this 2006 crime thriller. 60% on Rotten Tomatoes.

LET HIM GO

Kevin Costner and Diane Lane star in this thriller about an elderly couple who must rescue their daughter-in-law and grandson from a dangerous situation.

A MILLION WAYS TO DIE IN THE WEST

Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane tries but fails to make a funny western. Charlize Theron and Liam Neeson are co-stars.

PULL LITERATURE

“The way of the righteous is visited on all sides by the injustices of the selfish and the tyranny of the wicked; he is truly his brother’s keeper and the finder of lost children.”

THE RAVEN

John Cusack plays Edgar Allen Poe in this serial killer thriller set in a series of murders based on the famous author’s stories. Brendan Gleeson, Luke Evans and Alice Eve are co-stars.

ROBIN HOOD: PRINCE OF THIEVES

“Don’t tell me it’s not worth fighting for / I can’t help it, there’s nothing I want more / You know it’s true / Everything I do/ I’ll do it for youuuu…”

THE ROUNDOWN

All these years later, this is still probably The Rock’s best action movie.

SAUSAGE PARTY

In this adult-only animated comedy, an all-star cast tackles various groceries at an overly horny supermarket.

SEVEN YEARS IN TIBET

Based on the true story of a mountaineer (played here by Brad Pitt) who becomes a close confidant of the Dalai Lama.

SHOOT

Mark Wahlberg is a gunman who is accused of shooting someone, but he didn’t shoot that person. How will he solve this problem? By shooting someone else.

LITTLE SOLDIERS

The director of Gremlins brings chaos back home when a range of new toys are upgraded with military technology, only for them to become sentient and begin to take over a small town.

QUICKLY

Adam Sandler and Tea Leoni play an unhappy couple whose lives are disrupted by the arrival of a woman (Paz Vega) who is forced to leave her home in Mexico.

STUART SMALL & STUART LITTLE 2

Michael J. Fox speaks to a talking mouse. M. Night Shyamalan co-wrote the screenplay for the first. The second is even better.

TEARS OF THE SUN

The Training Day director teams up with Bruce Willis for this tear-jerking war flick.

THAT’S MY BOY

Adam Sandler and Andy Samberg star in this painfully unfunny comedy.

THIS IS 40

The Arta sequel to Knocked Up focuses on Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann as they face a midlife crisis in their marriage.

YOUNG ADULT

Charlize Theron gets a little messy in this darkly funny comedy from the author of Juno.
