Jonnie Irwin gives an insight into his stunning family trip to Marrakech after revealing A Place In The Sun was unable to get travel insurance to keep him on the show following his terminal cancer diagnosis

Jonnie Irwin is enjoying a family trip to Marrakech this week and is keeping fans updated via social media.

The 49-year-old TV presenter on Thursday shared a clip of the Moroccan city’s beautiful countryside, leaning over the man who was driving him to take the shot as he joked: “Let me know if it’s uncomfortable.”

It comes after he revealed he was diagnosed with stage 4 terminal lung cancer in August 2020, which then spread to his brain.

And A Place In The Sun decided not to renew his presenting contract after the news as they claimed they couldn’t get the right insurance for him to travel for the show.

“About two minutes ago,” the mate said as Jonnie flipped the camera to show him leaning over and crushing him.

And the presenter was heartbroken after revealing the diagnosis to his bosses on the show A Place In The Sun – who then diverted him from the hosting role.

Free Form Productions, who are making the program, said they were “unable to secure adequate insurance coverage” to allow him to continue filming internationally amid the Covid-19 crisis and said they were “resolving his frustration” understand about the decision.

A statement released to MailOnline said: “Jonnie has been an extremely important part of the A Place In The Sun family for over 18 years and we were all deeply saddened by his diagnosis.

“Loved dearly by everyone on the production, no stone was left unturned to enable Jonnie to continue his international filming with us during Covid, however the production company were unable to secure adequate insurance coverage for him.
