Brighton defender Marc Cucurella, Manchester United attacker Cristiano Ronaldo.

Cucurella, De Jong among five transfers we want to see this summer… – Football365

Chelsea are excited but we really want to see Marc Cucurella play for Pep Guardiola. Chelsea can have Frenkie De Jong just for the giggles.

Here are five deals we’re definitely here for this summer…

Marc Cucurella to Manchester City
Watching Cucurella flirt up and down the Brighton left flank was one of the joys of last season. After joining from Getafe for £15million a year ago, the Spaniard entered the Premier League like a duck into water. A duck with beautiful, flowing curls.

The ‘do’ meant he couldn’t be missed, but Cucurella quickly caught the eye for reasons beyond his barnett. Defensively, he made the fourth-highest number of tackles in the league, and offensively, he flew forward, never at less than warp speed. His energy was infectious and his influence on the Seagulls was such that he was named Player of the Season by fans and his teammates.

So it’s understandable that Brighton want the top price for Cucurella. Given what Pep Guardiola has previously spent on full-backs, the Seagulls are right to ask £50m. Just as it is the city’s right not to comply with this request. But it would be very worthwhile. And having already sold Oleksandr Zinchenko for £30million, they have weakened their own negotiating position.

And now comes ChelseaNot just f***ing with City, though the Blues’ approach certainly accomplishes that goal while also sparking a bidding war for Cucurella. One City should be more interested in winning than they seem to be.

Of course, if Cucurella stays in Brighton, that’s cool. No doubt he will be brilliant again and the Gulls will enjoy another fine season. You’ll likely thrive even if he leaves. And the 24-year-old belongs on the Champions League stage. We just think he would be more fun for his Catalan compatriot at City than Chelsea.

Man City shouldn’t let their own stubbornness spoil Cucurella’s perfect opportunity

Frenkie de Jong to Manchester United
Erik ten Hag definitely wants that. The new Manchester United manager is desperate to see the former Ajax midfielder again.

De Jong is pivotal in the plan Ten Hag has for United and the way they are expected to play. As a midfielder, De Jong doesn’t score many goals or provide many assists, but Ten Hag recognizes the Dutch star is setting the pace. “He’s the player who takes care of the teammates who can provide assists or score goals from their position,” said Ten Hag of de Jong being used as Barcelona’s No10.

Ten Hag even used De Jong as a central defender at Ajax to improve his build-up play from deep and it seems there is no other player in the world who could do the job as well.

So it’s a shame that De Jong doesn’t seem to want to join United. He is rightly digging in his heels while waiting for the money Barca owe him but even then it’s said he has no desire to live in Manchester.

We think he should be open to that prospect. If for no other reason so United can’t have any excuses and we can see how good both De Jong and Ten Hag are when they have everything in place. Otherwise, there’s a very real prospect of McFred alive to fight in another season.

Frenkie de Jong to Chelsea
Just for the LOLs. De Jong is clearly reluctant to move to the North West of England but apparently he could consider London. Just imagine all the p*ss cooked up in Manchester as Ten Hag’s most wanted man in blue takes on McFred and United.

It would also be absolutely hilarious if he stubbornly refused to leave Barcelona as it seems they’ve already deposited and already spent the money. Just not to pay De Jong or his teammates the deferred wages owed to them.

Cristiano Ronaldo to Sporting Lisbon
We know Ronaldo wants a move. We also now know that almost nobody wants to give him one – neither Manchester United nor any of the clubs he might be able to join. At some point in the coming weeks, one party will have to swallow.

It could be Ronaldo if he has to stay at Old Trafford with his tail between his legs. It could be United who may need to take a hit to get rid of Ten Hag’s 37-year distraction as they start their rebuilding in earnest.

In that case, a loan move back to Sporting would tick a lot of boxes for Ronaldo. It would allow him to return to where he started his career while also keeping him in the Champions League.

There was some excitement over the reported sighting of one of Ronaldo’s cars spotted at Sporting’s stadium, but the player’s reaction was simply to shout ‘fake’ news. Returning to the Portuguese league may not have been what Ronaldo had in mind when he declared his intention to leave United, but with no other options. Except for Saudi Arabiaa romantic return might be the best way for him to save face and keep the Red Devils – and the rest of us – moving on. He’s only been back a week, but Ten Hag must be itching.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Crystal Palace
It’s not Wan-Bissaka’s fault that he was promoted well above the level his talent deserved. We will blame the Transfer Brains Trust, which tracked 804 right-backs and decided that he was the best of them all.

After a bright start to his United career when slide tackles were still a novelty down the right flank at Old Trafford, Wan-Bissaka’s prospects have dwindled. It soon became clear that the £45million man had none of the other tools in his locker that a modern-day full-back needs to thrive at a club that is expected to attack, resulting in, that he was constantly sidelined by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Ralf Rangnick kept him there and Erik ten Hag wants to get rid of him completely.

Where next? The only obvious solution is a return to Palace, where he made his name, at home in the Eagles’ defense. Would Palace take him?

Probably borrowed. With longtime partners Joel Ward and Nathaniel Clyne, it feels like Patrick Vieira is currently doing well at right-back. The Eagles boss is keen on his defense feeling comfortable in different forms and he wants Palace to play up front. Perhaps Wan-Bissaka is not so suitable after all.

But we can all see him finding form and happiness back at Selhurst Park. United just have to accept that they will take a big hit but Wan-Bissaka is leaving.
