Martine explained to The Mirror: “In filming you have to be available 24 hours a day and it’s usually 17 hour days. So that’s why I took a step back for movies and TV dramas.’

“We only have one child and I don’t want to miss anything. I won’t get another one to take these moments with. When jobs come for me and Jack, we say, “We put family first.”

“Rafferty is so valuable… we are so lucky to have him. And what’s the point if we’ll never be around to pick up or drop off from school?

“We have to say, ‘OK, take this job and leave the other three.’ It is difficult. You want to be able to do them all, but you just can’t.’
