Speaking to MailOnline, Ronan said: “Storm and I are trying to find time for each other, that’s what it’s all about.

“We all live such crazy, hectic lifestyles that it’s easy to forget each other. We make sure we don’t. And I think that’s something very special and really important.

He joked: “So whether it’s running into the bedroom to watch a box set or whatever! Having some time together to watch a TV show or socialize. Or to say that it’s just the two of us going out to dinner tonight. Just spending time together.

“Because we have the older and the younger children. It’s a busy household and we work constantly, both of us.

“We are sometimes ships passing by at night with so much work on our plates. So I think making time for each other is key.”

He also gave a health update on Storm after she suffered temporary paralysis last year.

The star previously explained how she developed a rare condition called cauda equina syndrome, which meant her nerves were pressing on her spine so she couldn’t feel anything in the lower half of her body.

The horrific experience happened in March 2021 when she had to undergo surgery after a herniated disc, and Storm recalled waking up one morning to find parts of her body “completely numb”.

Coronavirus restrictions meant Ronan was unable to visit his wife in hospital, as Storm recalled being left “crying in the car” during the horrific ordeal outside.

Opening up on the “rough” year, Ronan said: “She’s doing great. It’s been a tough year for her last year, absolutely scary with what she’s been through.

“I believe that the stress and work and pressure that went into building this house led to what happened to her. It was horrible, stress is a horrible thing.

What is cauda equina syndrome?

Cauda equina syndrome is a serious condition in which the nerves at the very bottom of the spinal cord become compressed.

Symptoms include:

  • Lower back pain
  • numbness in your muzzle
  • Paralysis of one or both legs
  • rectal pain
  • Loss of bowel control (bowel incontinence)
  • Loss of bladder control (urinary incontinence)
  • Pain in the inside of your thighs

Doctors advise seeking medical help immediately if a person develops these symptoms.

You should see your family doctor or the emergency room (A&E) at your nearest hospital.

If cauda equina syndrome is not treated promptly, the nerves to the bladder and bowel can become permanently damaged.

But he revealed: “So she’s been through the mill but she’s fighting her way fit and back to work and thank god she’s fine, she’s great.”

Saying the couple are not planning any more children, Ronan said: “Storm and I feel very lucky, we are very happy, very loved. We just want to raise all children as well as possible. Five children like my mother and father.’

His two eldest children have also been in the spotlight, with Missy appearing on Dancing With The Stars while Jack appeared on Love Island this year.

When asked how he feels about his kids getting into the showbiz industry, Ronan said, “I have a very good relationship with all of them, we talk and we talk and discuss things and go through them.

“They seek advice and listen, so all is well. As long as people are willing to learn, I think trying these things is really important. As long as they take the advice and listen to what they’ve done, I’m proud of them.

“Storm has been working on the other side of the camera as a producer, so they have the best of both worlds, they know what to expect front and back.”
