Taylor Swift won top spot at the 2022 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs), winning four of the top gongs in a night of electric performances.

In all six nominations, the US megastar won for her 10-minute version of “Best Video” and “Best Longform Video Awards”. All Too Good (Taylor’s Version)as well as Best Artist and Best Pop at the ceremony held at the PSD Bank Dome in Düsseldorf on Sunday.

Harry Styles, Nicki Minaj, Muse and Gorillaz were among the global stars who also received top honors in the 20 gender-neutral categories.

The 32-year-old singer-songwriter Swift thanked her fans — known as the Swifties — for every award, once saying, “You’re the reason anything ever happened to me.

Her first prize for Best Long Form Video was presented by John Lennon’s son and singer Julian.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, she said: “I’ve been writing and directing my music video for a long time, but this was the first short film I’ve made and I felt like I’d learned as much about myself as filmmaking comes naturally My storytelling can be an extension of that as well as the songwriting.”

She said: “The older version of this song came out about 10 years ago and it was never a single. It was never meant to have a music video, despite a short film.

“The only way I can explain that is by saying that the fans wanted it. I will never stop thanking you for that.”

It also won the prestigious Video of the Year gong at the MTV Video Music Awards earlier this year.

Swift has been dominating charts around the world for the past few weeks following the release of her new album midnight.

Reflecting on how the album was received during the awards ceremony, she added: “I’m so blown away you have no idea how much it means to me to even do this as a career so I just want to say personally, from me to you, thank you for supporting (me).

“There’s not a single moment where I take that for granted. Thanks alot.”

After the ceremony, she celebrated her successful evening with grime star Stormzy, who shared a selfie on Twitter, which she posed together while Swift clutched a glass of wine, captioning the post a love heart and an emoji face brimming with emotion.

Former One Direction star Styles was the most-nominated musician at the awards with seven nominations, but only went home as Best Live Performer.

David Guetta and Bebe Rexha opened the EMAs ceremony in rousing style, performing their hit song I’m fine (Blue)which won the Best Collaboration Award.

A number of famous faces were also featured including Baywatch Star David Hasselhoff and Eurovision runner-up Sam Ryder.
