Coronation Street Stars Elle Mulvaney and Jack James Ryan teased a new direction for their characters Amy Barlow and Jacob Hay.
The unlikely duo started dating earlier this year and they have defied all odds by managing to stay together despite disapproval from Amy’s family.

Amy and Jacob have made a previous failed attempt at independent living so they are currently staying at number 1 with the Barlows.

However, in their new story, they will start renting an apartment with two of their teenage co-workers.
she said Digital Spy: “We’re moving out! We’re moving to a new apartment with our friends, so it’s a lot friends-ish.
“It’s going to be loads of fun and you’ll see her in a whole new light.”
Jack added: “It’s Amy, Jacob, Aaron and Summer. The great thing is that we’re really good friends with Harriet outside of work [Bibby, who plays Summer] and Jacob [Craven, who plays Aaron].
“That chemistry that we have off-screen, we’re going to try to bring that to the screen. I think it’s going to be a really great momentum and we’re really looking forward to it.”

Elle and Jack continued to discuss how corrie Fans have reacted to Amy and Jacob’s relationship.
She said: “We’ve had such a good response. We had a conversation beforehand and I said, ‘You come in as a bad guy, Amy has been on the road for years, so you’re probably going to get a little bit of backlash, and everybody’s getting backlash too! Don’t be alone, if you’re upset about anything, talk to me.
“But honestly, we didn’t have any negative comments. I sent him a message and said, ‘I don’t know what’s going on, but everyone likes it!’
“Oddly enough, even though people think Amy and Jacob wouldn’t go together, they really, really are.”

Jack added, “I think we’re starting to become a new Steve and Tracy that brings that dynamic. We were really unlikely, but we work so well and we get along really well off screen.
“The writers pulled it out of the bag for us, they really did. You have given us such good material. When the material is that good, all you have to do is show up and say the lines, and it works on its own.”
